The Girl Fu Hurricane Adventure... DIY Fences and Fires
DIY Home Renovations From Upcycling
And why I should be "Net Nannied" from Craigslist, LetGo, Offer, Up, Pinterest and YouTube
Give me an unlimited supply of cement blocks, (tires), pallets and milk crates, and I can build an mansion...Add in a glue gun, glue sticks, a staple gun and staples, and I'll even have it decorated too.
With so many things to do, I almost didn't know where to start.
And of course.. with Craigslist, LetGo, OfferUp, Pinterest and YouTube to use for 'research'... yea, that's what we'll say it is, research... it's not only easy to come up with awesome ideas, it's also really easy to get distracted.
Although the 4 'priorities' are... well, priorities... the 'To Do List" and "Need List" are both pretty long...
I started with Pinterest and the term "Inexpensive fences".... and I ran across 'Pallet Fences,'.
I'm no stranger to 'pallet upcycling,' and I never have a problem finding them when I need them either!
Great... let's look at some ideas!
Oh! Wait! Look at this garage door made from pallets...
Wow... there's a lot of ideas for pallets here,... let's search "Things to do with pallets,"...
And that's how it started.
Here are just a few of the cool DIY Home Improvement ideas I found on Pinterest so far...
DIY Cement Block Projects
Cement Block Frame...Although this picture shows a bench, (which would actually be a great idea for something to put in front of the bay windows I have in my living room, I actually am considering doing this for a bed frame instead of the pallets I have down right now. The blocks would be so much easier as I could just 'place' them where I need them, whereas with the pallets, I have to measure and cut, and, worse yet, end up wasting wood.
DIY Home Improvement With Milk Crate Projects...
Most of us, especially us '80's kids' (now in our early to late 40's), remember when we used milk crates for book shelves and coffee tables, especially in our first apartments... but there are so many other ways to use them... and all of them can be found on Pinterest! Someone stop me!The Milk Crate Composting Bin...
As an avid gardener, (missing my garden and with Spring upon me no less,) I love this idea.
I'm nowhere near ready to start my garden growing again just yet, but when I do, I know I'll be adding this to my list of "DIY Self Sustaining Garden Projects."
I'm still wondering how to 'turn' the compost in this nifty little contraption, but I have plenty of time to think about that...
After all, my garden isn't high on my 'Priority List' at the moment, and there are a number of things on said Priority List that have to get done with the milk crates I have on hand.
Like this... DIY Home Improvement Milk Crate Loft Bed
I actually bought both kids loft beds 2 years ago to save on floor space in their room.
Unfortunately, since they weren't custom built... well, they weren't exactly, a perfect fit.
For one thing, even though I have cathedral ceilings in my living room, and vaulted ceilings in my family room, the bedroom ceilings are only about 7.5 ft high.
And, I can' fit both beds in one room.
Since little guy is really starting to need his own space, separate from his older brother, I may just put this in his 'outside tiny house fort'...
And the DIY Home Improvement Living Pallet Fence...
I looked all over at "Inexpensive Fencing Ideas," "Cheap Fences," and even Pallet Fences... and after all my dozens and dozens of pins, I finally settled on this!Maybe my garden isn't so far away after all...
This fencing allows me to build my fence entirely for free, and at the same time, add vertical gardening to my yard, plus... not have to give up a lot of ground space for my garden.
An added bonus... the 'vertical' garden will also give us a 'privacy' fence to boot!
I've created Pinterest Boards for so many different things, with so many cross references, that I wound up putting everything into one board called "Organize," for me to organize later.
I also went trawling YouTube for videos on everything from how to make a wood floor from pallets, to how to build a kids playhouse with pallets...
Today we scored 20 free pallets, and a whole lot more if we can keep going and picking them up too...
If I can find a place to get free tires... I just may start building "DIY Earthship Houses."
I may need more land...
