The Girl Fu Hurricane Adventure... DIY Fences and Fires
And then... we had a small fire.
Well, not really 'small.' In fact, we were damn lucky. It did get to the house, but only soot on the outside stucco. Between us and the firefighters that got called, we got it out in time to keep any damage from the house.
And unfortunately, the "Code Enforcement" bad cops got called to give us a hard time about all the stuff we have outside... even after 4 trips to the dump, each with a full bed in a truck and a full trailer loaded.
Plus, they gave us 24 hours to get a new fence up too...
Luckily, this very same day, before the fire happened, I scored almost 20 free pallets from Craigslist. They were stacked up in the front yard.
So, Brian pulled out his chainsaw to cut down the old fence as quickly as possible and us, the kids, and one of their friends started building a new fence out of pallets...
Because we have a pool, we have to have a fence and it has to be at least 4ft high. I would have preferred a 6ft fence, but I would have needed even more pallets that I just don't have on hand right now, so we'll make do with what we've got and try to make it taller as the days go on.
